As I came home after work, the children were very excited as they got new books from their school's library.
As we settled for our bedtime stories (we had to impose a maximum of 3 books per evening...) and as I picked up one the books " given" to me, it was truly a welcomed surprise: instead of the usual planets, moon landing and other Apollo missions I got accustomed to see, I had the pleasure to discover and read a sweet story about a construction site....
"Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site" by Sherri Duskey Rinker and Tom Lichtenheld (a New York Times Bestseller, ©Chronicle Books San Francisco), is a book I truly recommend to all parents whose little ones are in love with excavators, cranes, cement mixers , bulldozers and dump trucks.
This book will please both the children, as they have soft but colorful illustrations of their favorite heavy, large motor vehicles, and the parents, who will still be able to put their sweet ones gently to sleep without further excitement. Sweet dreams to all...
Excerpt
"With one last spin, he pours the load. He's ready now to leave the road.
He takes a bath, gets shiny-bright, pulls up his chute, turns off his light.
He cuts his engine, slows his drum, and dreams sweet dreams of twirly fun.
Shh...goodnight, Cement Mixer, goodnight."
